Leopold Stokowski was certainly one of greatest conductors of the 20th Century with a career that lasted over more then seven decades. Stokowski conducted the London Symphony Orchestra at the Edinburg International Festival in 1961 and performed a truly monumental programme which is now for the first time completely available in digital form. The programme started with Liszt's "Mephisto Waltz" and continued to Schostakowitsch's 5th Symphony in the first half. The second half brought Gabrieli's "Pian'e Forte Sonata" and finally Tippett's "Concerto for Double String Orchestra" - a combination rarely found on concert programs nowadays. The concert was recorded and was previously available to only a small group of music lovers as limited edition. Now it was audio restored in beautiful 24 But High Definition and is available to all lovers of great concert music and Stokowski Fans. A true Must Hear! Enjoy!
