Musician Magazine Review - August, 2000 X-TERRA - Self-titled - a.k.a The Red Album Jesus Christ warns in the Gospel according to St. Matthew - "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth, but a sword." X-TERRA conveys much of the same sentiment with their brand of heavy metal Christian music. Don't expect a gentle entreaty to be saved. Using a variety of groovy metal riffs and imaginative feel changes, the band hammers home the urgency of the need for salvation, the consequences of missing the boat and the hopes and rewards of life in Christ. The band is tight and the song construction is good. In terms of production, some additional effects on the voice to pull it into the overall mix would help the production, but overall the material is solid. Whether you're an adherent of 'the Message' or not, it's always good to hear golden era metal played with enthusiasm and conviction.
