The sun rises above the western sky piercing the clouds, declaring to all, that this is "A New Day". As the sun declares a new day, the world of music will also experience "A New Day", a new sound in music that will penetrate the soul. When Carmen Johnson was born October 3rd in Seattle Washington, it was a new beginning. At the young age of ten years she realized she had an angelic gift from God. She would sing while listening to the radio, and stereo, influenced by Tina Turner’s "What’s Love Got to Do With It", and the Dells Christmas rendition of "Silent Night", while determining in her heart that one day she would turn her God given gift into reality. Carmen’s dream of singing was all but put on hold during her adolescent and early adult years. Instead of dealing with her dream, she had to deal with the nightmare of growing up in an environment where love was distant. Physical and mental abuse became her daily struggle. Carmen survived her tumultuous upbringing by holding onto her dream to sing for the Lord. Instead of her circumstances dictating her life, she used her circumstances to push herself into what she calls "The Ultimate Journey in music with Jesus Christ". Carmen began singing thirteen years ago in the city of Seattle. From singing at the Esquire club, and Thompson’s Point of View, to being a finalist in the Langston Hughes Hall talent shows singing her own material. Carmen moved to Portland Oregon where she has realized part of her dream, to sing for the Lord. Carmen is determined to realize the rest of her dream, reaching the world for Christ with her music. Carmen has been a featured singer at various churches in the area, and is now ready to branch out so others can hear the sound and lyrics of a style of music that will bless the ears of every listener. I encourage you to join Carmen on her ultimate journey as she sings with a unique style that will touch your heart and soul. With great sorrow we lost Carmen as she passed away May 22nd, 2013. She leaves behind her son Khalon Johnson, and a host of fans who have enjoyed her music and style of singing.
