'Chris Ward has a way with a tasty tune!' Hotpress, Ireland I've been in love with the art of songwriting for a long time now. I'm very pleased to share this CD with you, which features some of my current favourites. I'm ably accompanied on this recording (as on stage) by percussionist Eddie McGroarty. I'm based in County Donegal, Ireland. Originally from Newcastle, England, I have absorbed so many influences into my writing. I love well-crafted pop - think of the Kinks from the 60's, 10cc from the 70's, Madness and Squeeze from the 80's. Add to that my exposure to Latin and African music, an awareness of other styles - and you might get an idea of where I'm coming from. The original idea of this CD was to record a few rehearsals - in part because we're prone to forgetting how we've arranged the songs! So, over a couple of very hot days in July 2013, my living room was once again turned into rehearsal central, and these recordings were made. We were happier than we expected with the results, and after a little tweaking, are able to share them with you. The songs have the basic tracks recorded live, with some overdubs added. This CD provides a snapshot of the set that me and Eddie are playing at the moment. Perhaps we'll see you at one of the gigs. Equipment used: Eddie plays congas, bongos, cajon, triangle and other hand percussion. I provide guitar, sax, and vocals. Harmonies are created via the TC Helicon Harmony G. Loops are via the BOSS RC-30. Songs were recorded with a Behringer desk and my (rather old|) BOSS BR1180 machine. Tweaking was done with Adobe Audition.
