Many of these maritime songs were written for TV projects over the years. In response to the first project we did for WNEM TV 5 created enough interest to do the first CD, It's Quiet Where They Sleep which, in turn led to the second, 1000 Ft. Keel in a surprising way: I was out on tour and my Dad was tagging along. We were checking out the ore dock in Marquette. They were loading and I told one of the crew that I had a CD of songs about shipwrecks on the lakes and could we come aboard. He joked that it might not be such a good idea considering the content of my record, then laughed and said, "Come on up." After our visit, I was contacted by the skipper who said how much everyone loved the CDs but could we maybe write some songs about what they do every day and still LIVE! So we did.
